Battle for the Holy LandEvery time I watch PBS’s “Frontline,” I’m completely impressed. But last night I watched an episode called “Battle for the Holy Land” which includes some amazing behind-the-scenes footage (shot by the BBC) with both Palestinian freedom fighters and Israeli security forces. It was powerful and chilling and probably the most revealing documentation of the conflict that I’ve ever seen.

Sherron WatkinsSherron Watkins’s testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee today was thrilling to listen to, and I admire her bravery. This Enron thing gets more and more interesting with each day. I hope Lay, Fastow, Skilling et. al. get their due. In other news, did you hear there’s another Olympic scandal, and if you didn’t are you really surprised? If there’s anyone out there that believes the Olympics are anything more than a circus of graft, exploitation and marketing, let me sell you some shares in ENRNQ.

The Corporate Messiah Complex

In an interview on NPR’s “Fresh Air” New York Times investigative reporter Kurt Eichenwald comments on the Enron debacle:“Basically what I write about is corporate scandal and I have noticed time and again, you have the same underlying themes in almost every scandal. First, a group of executives who believe they are changing the world. Second, a level of arrogance and a level of greed that you don’t see in other corporations. Third and probably most significant — lack of adequate compliance procedures.”
