The Death of Discs An exclusive post from the Subtraction.com newsletter

Sometimes when I write about the passage of physical media, as I did in today’s post about Netflix’s discs-by-mail service, I worry a little that people will think I actually like it. On the contrary, I find discs to be cumbersome, burdensome and ugly. But what I do like is the idea that I own a disc. Owning media is a good thing; as I wrote in this post back in November, I wish that there was some kind of relationship between renting and owning in digital media. Oh well.

Anyway, if you have a fondness of Netflix’s envelopes, you might also check out this Pinterest board of doodles on those envelopes. People like physical stuff. Who knew?

Cheers from New York,
Khoi
