Four More Years

You can read about it in books as much as you want, but in parenting there are thresholds of knowledge you can only acquire by experiencing them firsthand. One of them is having twins. Ours turn four years old today—four years of craziness I never thought I had it in me to survive. But it’s been worth it, every day. When the boys were first born and my wife and I were basically in shock from the relentless grind of caring for two infants, another parent of twins told us, “At some point the clouds part and you can’t imagine it any other way.” That turned out to be so true. I can’t imagine life without this pair of irrepressible, unbelievable, unstoppable, wonderful little tykes. Happy birthday Lafayette and Thiebaud.
